book-and-birdsWRiTEON is a Cambridge-based group that stages rehearsed readings of new drama, enabling writers to develop their work and offering actors and directors opportunities to bring new material to life on stage for the first time. We also run workshops on writing, acting, directing and performance improvisation and hold a regular feedback group for scripts in progress.

Right For The Stage (workshops)

We are holding a series of eight playwriting workshops for new or experienced playwrights.

Mon 18 Jan: Finding Your Voice
Mon 25 Jan: Starting Points For Your Play
Mon 1 Feb: Plots And Plotting
Mon 8 Feb: Creating Characters
Mon 22 Feb: Dialogue And Action
Mon 29 Feb: Theme
Mon 7 Mar: Setting And Time
Mon 14 Mar: Editing, Rewriting, Publishing, Staging

The workshops can be booked individually, or there is a discount for block bookings. More details here. Bookings must be received by the Wednesday prior to the workshop.

If you’ve never written a play before or you’re looking for fresh ideas and approaches, we’ll help you get started. You can come to the workshops with nothing or you can bring an idea for, or even a draft of, your play you want to improve or get in shape. You’ll take part in writing exercises and activities to help stimulate your ideas, develop your writing technique and improve the quality and impact of your work.

Butterfly Effect

WRiTEON are excited to announce that, in partnership with Twisted Willow Theatre, we will be producing a fully-staged play this summer. This will replace our usual Monologues and Duologues (MaD) season.

We are looking for writers to help us bring this play to life! Through an innovative collaborative process, led by dramaturge Kim Komljanec, a team of writers will have the chance to devise and write the play together. More details of the project, and how to get involved, here.

Feedback Group

Our informal script feedback group group meets at least once a month. It gives an opportunity to meet with fellow writers, and to read aloud and discuss your work.

The next meeting date will be on Wednesday 17th February. E-mail julia@writeon.org.uk if you would like to more information.

Improv

We run improv courses throughout the year. Our next beginners and improvers classes start in April.  More details here.
