WRiTEON! - News

WRiTEON at Posh Frocks and Dickie Bows
Tuesday 2 September 2008, 7pm
B Bar, Top Floor, Market Passage, Cambridge.

Posh Frocks & Dickie Bows is a "dress to impress" food, jazz and comedy event in aid of 209radio, Cambridge’s community radio station on 105FM.

WRiTEON has a longstanding relationship with the station, having produced a popular 10 part comedy soap, Hills Road, for the station earlier this year. 209radio provides a huge variety of programmes all produced for and by the local community. It faces a funding crisis over the next six months, so WRiTEON was delighted to be able to contribute a new comedy sketch based on the Hills Road series for this fundraising event. Click here for more information about the sketch.

Event price includes full buffet dinner, stand-up comedy from Hannah Dunleavy, WRiTEON sketch and jazz from the Caxton Swing Band.

Tickets £40 on-line : www.localsecrets.com and www.movingtone.com or telephone 01223 264991.

For more information about the station or to listen, visit www.209radio.co.uk or tune into 105FM.

news@writeon.org.uk

Naked Stage is WRiTEON's longest running, largest and best known series of staged readings. Its purpose is to provide a forum for new scriptwriting in the Cambridge region and beyond. Past years have seen more than 30 new plays performed as readings over the 10 week Naked Stage season.  We are looking for previously unperformed stage plays or sketches of up to one hour in length. There is an optional audience feedback session for the writer at the end of each evening's performance.

This year Naked Stage will take place at the B Bar, Market Passage, Cambridge, on Sunday evenings between 5 October and 14 December (no performance 19 October). The submission deadline of 8 September will be firm - please mark your diaries now!

Note that you must be or become a WRiTEON member to submit.

Casting for Naked Stage
14 and 17 September
Portland Arms, Chesterton Road, Cambridge

Interested in taking part in Naked Stage as an actor or director? Then mark your calendars now for one of the three casting sessions we will be holding in September. We have many new actors and directors on the books so we will need everyone who would like to take part to attend at least one session. This is not an audition, though we will ask you to read from some scripts and you will have the option of performing a monologue of your own choosing. From this we can get an idea of the types of roles for which you will be suited.

New actors are very welcome.

The casting sessions will all be at the Portland Arms. You will only need to attend one session. The sessions available are:
Sunday,14th September, 3-5 pm OR 7-9 pm
Wednesday, 17th September, 7-9 pm.

To sign up for a session or if you have questions write to news@writeon.org.uk
