10
Minute Plays by Women Wanted for 17percent Launch Event
Deadline:
Monday 1 February
17percent is a social enterprise which aims to redress the gender imbalance of plays being produced in the UK, by providing women with opportunities to develop as writers, through peer-to-peer networking and educational opportunities, championing women’s achievements in the theatre, promoting female writers and providing positive female role models and inspirations.
As a launch event, 17percent is planning to
produce a number of regional showcases of new writing. The showcases
will be script-in-hand rehearsed readings, with a maximum number of
five actors (doubling up roles will be considered depending on the
script). The showcase/s are likely to be in Kent and/or London. If
you have a ten-minute play that you think fits the bill and you would
like to be involved with the launch event, please email the script as
a PDF or .doc by Monday 1 February to: 17percentcampaign@gmail.com,
with a short CV.
It is important that you are able to
attend a rehearsal of your work during February, as this will give
you the opportunity to meet other writers and discuss your work.
This will be the first of what it is planned will become a regular event to showcase women’s writing.
Due to the expected number of submissions and
short timescale before the launch, individual feedback will not be
given.

Looking
for Comedy Writer, The
Divine Tales

Sunday 31 January 2010
Edinburgh fringe aimed performers looking for a writer to develop
a 2 woman comedy about seeking life improvement. This piece of
theatre sees 2 mid 20 something year old women going abroad in order
to fufill their chosen destinies. A madcap surreal adventure

Includes songs and clever silliness.
We need to find a writer who
can put it onto paper and into a script. We want to get this
completed in time for the Edinburgh fringe deadline - March the
1st!

Actors/Practitioners Wanted, Lumenis Theatre Company
Closes:
Thursday 11 February 2010
Unpaid (Expenses Paid)
Lumenis are embarking on a brand new, devised piece of theatre looking at the issues surrounding Assisted Suicide. We have accessible rehearsal space in North London and are committed to accommodating any impairment. The age, gender or impairment of the actor is unimportant, as is their ethnicity, sexual orientation or anything else.
Please email sharon@lumenistheatre.co.uk with your CV and expressing interest in the project.
Acceptance on to the project will be by interview.

and Directing for Film
Sunday,
7 February 2010
1-4 pm
Free
Venue TBC (Cambridge central)
Robert Jezek will be leading this workshop for the Cinecam filmmaker's group. Drawing on Robert's own experiences in the professional world, this workshop will cover a variety of themes, such as what does an actor need from a director, how much is the director's responsibility and how much does the actor need to prepare, and how to coax a good performance from an inexperienced actor. This free event is hosted by the Cinecam group, a group of film makers working here in Cambridge. Time permitting, the workshop will include some playing about with filming a short scene.
To book a place please contact Ian Lam (il233@cam.ac.uk). Places are limited. Robert is performing at Naked Stage that evening so class will be dismissed in plenty of time.
