Historic Debut of Hills Road - the WRiTEON! Radio Soap
Monday 25 June, 9 pm
209radio.co.uk

Meet Anna Simpleton - I mean, Singleton. She lives on Hills Road, and she'd really, really like to be a fashion designer. Or make it on X-files. Whichever. She has two children, Amy, who's four going on ferocious, and 18 year old Martin, who needs a brain job. She also has lots of friendly neighbours - most of whom she hates. Oh,and a husband who works for the council. They form the basis for the first ever (we think) comedy radio soap set in Cambridge and written and performed entirely by WRiTEON! members. Hills Road officially begins transmission on 209radio.co.uk this Monday, 25 June at 9 pm. Log on to 209Radio to listen live or keep an eye on the WRiTEON! website for information on how to listen to archived episodes after broadcast. There are 10, 10-minute episodes to come and it's really very funny. Support it now, and they might renew it - it's a golden opportunity.

WRiTEON! at Cherry Hinton Festival
8 September 2007

Revived in 2006, the Cherry Hinton Festival attracted 6000 people to the Cherry Hinton recreation ground last year. They were looking to add to their roster of attractions, so we have agreed to perform a Best of the Duologues hour in the afternoon (time to be confirmed) as part of the festival, and to have a stall available at the festival to explain and promote our work.

Camfringe Festival
20 July - 6 August

The second Camfringe Festival is set to go ahead and as supporters of fringe theatre we have decided to take part once again. The committee's idea is to hold an "eclectic" evening on 22 July at CB2. Participants can perform monologues, stand-up, improvisation, scripted pieces, poetry, music - basically, what they like. Time is short, so we need your expressions of interest in performing as soon as possible. All you need to do is write to michelleATwriteon.org.uk (replace AT with @) outlining what you'd like to do and how long your presentation will be. A co-ordinator will get back to you with performance time. You need to take charge of your own rehearsals, casting etc. We will provide promotion and the booking of the space.
See www.camfringe.com for more information about the festival.

Play & Record - Comedy Material Wanted
Deadline: 15 July 2007

Play & Record is a composite broken comedy show for BBC7, made up of sketches, characters, songs, and other odds and ends from a wide range of writers and performers. It's intended to introduce new talent to BBC7, so one thing we are definitely looking for is writers who have yet to have material performed on the radio.

It might be standalone sketches, sketches that could return week on week, sketches that could develop a thread through a show... characters who might appear repeatedly... cartoonish serials... The brief is really very wide.

We are looking for strong, joke-heavy material that will make listeners laugh a lot. It's very hard to say what we want exactly (funny, a bit different, lots of jokes). Basically, Play and Record is supposed to be a scratchpad for new material, so if it's funny, it will go in.

Each show will have four performers (2 male and 2 female) which is a factor you might want to bear in mind when writing.

Please send one or two sketches which you think are your very best work. If we like those, we'll get back to you for more. Longer submissions, outlines, or sketch ideas will not be read - sorry, but we just don't have the time.

The series will be recorded in London and Scotland in August/September for transmission this Autumn on BBC7. Deadline for submissions is 9am on Monday 16th July 2007.
